Bridge Priest

The Rev. Brock Baker

With a rich background in ministry and a deep commitment to compassionate listening and pastoral support, Reverend Baker brings a wealth of experience and passion for spiritual healing to the parish community.

Ordained in 2008, Brock Baker embarked on his pastoral journey at St. Eustace in Lake Placid, New York, where he served as rector for three-and-a-half years. His ministry led him to the Boston area in 2012, where he dedicated himself to serving various parishes within the Diocese of Massachusetts, infusing each community served with his empathetic presence and gentle spiritual guidance. From November 2020 to June 2021, Reverend Baker served at St. Bartholomew’s Cambridge, leaving an enduring mark on the congregation through his leadership.

Before answering the call to ordained ministry, Reverend Baker had a career as a literary journalist and trade book editor in London and New York City. But his heart was drawn to ministry. His journey began as a lay leader at St. Bartholomew’s in New York City, where his dedication to programs, vestry service, and deep spiritual exploration laid the foundation for his transition to ordained ministry.

Healing is central to Reverend Baker’s ministry. His practice is to conduct Sunday healing services, facilitate workshops on the power of intercessory prayer and offer prayer counseling.

His unwavering commitment to praying for others’ healing—physically, mentally, and spiritually—reflects his belief in the transformative power of faith and community.

Beyond his pastoral duties, Reverend Baker is a dedicated writer of both fiction and non-fiction. His literary endeavors include an as yet unpublished novel, "Film Noir," a Covid diary entitled "Small Things," and his present project, a memoir entitled "Abroad."

Brock Baker’s broad interests extend beyond his spiritual calling. An avid reader of print media, including books and magazines, the daily newspaper and the internet, he gravitates toward the sports news, finding joy and relaxation following football and professional tennis. Formerly a Yankee fan, Reverend Baker currently roots for the Red Sox and the Patriots embodying his more recent connection to the Boston community. His other leisure interests include art, architecture, travel, and birdwatching.

Married for 36 years to Elizabeth, a corporate vice president at Morgan Stanley, Reverend Baker treasures his family life which includes two grown daughters and a loved but irascible semi-feral feline named Beau. The couple resides in Arlington.

Church Staff

Ed Stauff – Music Director

Ed studied music at Yale while earning a B.S. in computer science.

In addition studying and performing organ music, Ed has always been fascinated by the inner workings of the King of Instruments. As a teenager he immersed himself in the literature of organ building; in the 1980’s he bought and rebuilt a small pipe organ in his basement. In the early days of the World Wide Web, Ed began compiling a website that listed names of organ stops. This work soon grew into the Encyclopedia of Organ Stops, which is now accepted as the most comprehensive work of its kind.
